As is the way these days the details about the people or person behind today’s track of the day are as scant as job satisfaction in a call centre. They (let’s assume there’s more than one of ’em) go by the name of Pooltheory, they arrive replete with a stark black and white logo, but there’s nothing cold or desolate about their music.
Their debut track ‘The Dreamer’ is a hazy evocative little number rich in melody and a little reminiscent of the kind of restrained lo-fi slacker euphoria much loved by Ernest Greene (Washed Out) with dash of the Flaming Lips. Even in this era of over entitled ‘we demand access to everything’ social media interaction – it’s still all about the music, right? And if not it bloody well should be.
