Ones To Watch 2018 – No.3 – Swimming Girls

Like last years No.1 tip, Dream Wife,  Swimming Girls are another collective who started life as a ‘musical project’ before morphing into a fully fledged band. Whilst at Bath Uni they were apparently asked to simply ‘write a song’ and drawing on their own influences from artists as diverse as the Cure to Cyndi Lauper and their shared love of 70’s and 80’s pop culture/movies they produced an amazing debut single in the shape of ‘Tastes Like Money.’

That was followed up with ‘2 Kids’, which sounds not unlike the best song Lykke Li didn’t record and demonstrates the band’s ability to craft soaring anthemic evocative pop. We expect Swimming Girls to make a … (*drumroll*) …. huge ‘splash’ in 2018.
