Track Of The Day – The Fireworks – ‘Runaround’

The Fireworks are Emma Hall (Pocketbooks), Matthew Rimell (Big Pink Cake), Isabel Albiol (Things In Herds), and Shaun Charman (The Popguns, The Wedding Present) who between them create a hook-laden mix of fuzzy reverb soaked noise pop.  Fans of bands such as The Shop Assistants, The Vaselines and Veronica Falls, will doubtless find this an irresistible combination.

And whilst there is without doubt more than a nod to sonic templates of the past the band are also very much in the here and now, melding a satisfying guitar thrash with a splash of  feedback, boy girl harmonies and life affirming melodies to create perfectly formed indie pop goodness.  All these attributes are very much in evidence on ‘Runaround’  today’s “Track Of the Day” which is released on limited 7″ on 26th November and can be purchased HERE .
