Track Of The Day – MALKA – ‘Into The Night’

‘Into The Night’ is the lead single from MALKA‘s forthcoming album – and if you didn’t know MALKA is the latest musical alter ego of former 6 Day Riot front woman Tamara Schlesinger. Following on from the excellent ‘I Never Needed Love’, Into the Night’  is what we’d term a real ‘grower.’ The first listen plants the seed, with Tamara’s voice sounding as smooth as melted chocolate – upon the second listen the melodies reveal themselves and by the third play it’s blossomed into an subtle addictive infectious slice of alt pop. For such an upbeat sounding song the lyrics have a dark almost fairytale like quality meditating on terrors in the night that can emerge in your imagination when sleep seems particularly elusive. However, it’s also a song that will infuse you with energy and have you dancing into the night ready to hurdle the dawn gate and emerge into the morning light angst free.

‘Into The Night’ is released on 14th July via Tantrum Records.
