Track Of The Day – Dum Dum Girls – ‘On Christmas’

As we mentioned yesterday, we will yield to nobody in our view that a well judged carefully crafted Christmas tune, or indeed cover version can be a wonderful thing.  And as if by magic Dum Dum Girls conjure up a wistful, reflective seasonal gem in the shape of ‘On Christmas.’

It’s from Converse’s ‘Noise To The World 2 ‘ compilation and in our opinion is the best tune on it by far.  It’s produced by Kurt Feldman of  The Ice Choir and sees Dum Dum Girls venture into synth pop territory. Could this mark a change of direction for Dum Dum Girls? Quite frankly we don’t care, because  Dee Dee could write tunes on a wash-board and they’d still sound fucking brilliant. So there!
