TRACK OF THE DAY – WOLF ALICE – ‘Giant Peach’

HURRAH!  So finally, we have news of Wolf Alice’s debut album!  It’s entitled My Love Is Cool and is out on 22nd June on Dirty Hit Records.

The first single to be taken from the album the magnificent ‘ Giant Peach’ is a live favourite and one we’ve caught on a number of occasions.  There’s more of an old school visceral punk sneer to Ellie Rowsell’s vocal on this track, set against a backdrop of raging guitars and a driving motorik beat which may put the ‘grungepop’ tag to bed once and for all.  Moreover, it again demonstrates what a fucking marvellous band Wolf Alice are.  Rest assured it’s not hyperbole to say that the London based quartet are genuinely one of the most exciting new bands to emerge in recent years – it’s an unassailable fact ! We’ve been tipping them since 2012 after stumbling across some of Ellie’s early demos on Soundcloud, and that nascent talent is now coming to full fruition … And you NEED to catch them live because they really are something special, they give it their all, and never disappoint.  Seriously, what a band!

  1. Saw ’em in Boston on Sunday night. Very good. Although not as good as The Twilight Sad who were unreal in front of a sold out crowd in Chicago the night before.
