Track Of The Day – The Garrys – Makeout At The Drive-In

The Garrys – Makeout At The Drive-In

Canadian trio The Garrys arrive in the UK in a few weeks to play the Great Escape Festival in Brighton as part of what promises to be another stellar ‘Canadian Blast’ showcase.  To celebrate the siblings have released a new single the dreamy ‘Makeout at the Drive-In’ from their acclaimed 2017 album ‘Surf Manitou.’

Although there’s a hazy nostalgic evocative atmosphere at the core of The Garry’s reverb-laden oeuvre, entwining “girls-in-the- garage” style harmonies (‘Graveyard Curve’, for example, sounds like classic Shangri-Las) the sisters have given the sound their own contemporary twist. ‘Makeout at the Drive-In’ has the same sense of youthful wistful yearning that fellow Canadians Alvvays evoke on tracks like ‘Party Police’ and is a sparkling introduction to The Garrys sound.

They should also have Garys around the Uk celebrating Smile
