Track Of The Day – Karima Francis – Say.

Karima Francis has had her ups and downs in the music business. She moved from Blackpool to Manchester, had a big record deal, hit the party scene and appeared on Jools Holland. However, there came a time when she doubted if it was a path she wanted to continue to tread. However, her talent and ability to craft beautiful music has never been in doubt and judging by her latest release “Say” the best could well still be ahead of her.

“Say” is an Americana tinged slice of shimmering beauty, decorated with liting slide guitars whilst Francis’ intimate heartfelt vocal takes centre stage. “Say” negotiates that fine line between despair and hope with a vocal infused with a lachrymose crestfallen tender beauty. Not unlike Mazzy Star in their pomp, there’s a sense of timelessness to “Say” which was written when Francis headed to LA in search of a new sound. Seems like she’s found it.
