Track Of The Day – Swimming Girls – 2 Kids

Not  unlike one of our favourite new artists Dream Wife , Swimming Girls are another band who started life as a ‘musical project’ whilst studying separately at Bath Uni. They were apparently asked to simply ‘write a song’ and drawing on their own influences from artists as diverse as the Cure and Cyndi Lauper and a love of 70’s and 80’s pop culture and movies they produced an absolutely amazing debut single in the shape of ‘Tastes Like Money’  Their latest tune, ‘2 Kids’ which I recently reviewed for Tom Robinson’s Fresh On The Net site (click HERE) is another demonstration of the bands ability to craft soaring anthemic evocative pop. And they’ve already supported the Jesus And Mary Chain apparently ! I’ve predicted they’ll be big … in fact if they ain’t I will dance in full costume at next year’s Brazilica Carnival in Liverpool and nobody wants to see that …. so .. make it so!  Smile
