As promised on Monday here’s part 2 of our  best new bands of 2012 nominations, as requested  by BBC 6 Music  who have joined up with  Hype Machine  to unveil the Music Blog Zeitgeist featuring the top 25 artists of 2012 so far . This will be broadcast on Sunday 24th June via Tom Robinson’s ( Sony award winning) Now Playing show from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. For more details check HERE  follow  6 Music’s facebook page HERE and  follow the #Blog6Music hash-tag on tweety twitter.

We decided to pick bands we haven’t publicly mentioned before on 6 Music, and in the spirit of Tom Robinson’s support for emerging artists, ones that also haven’t released an album as yet.  Therefore this ruled out artists who are bound to figure in our top albums of the year such as 2:54, Straylings, Policia,  Deathline and Two Wounded Birds, to name but five.

Our second band is ..

BBC6 Music – Blog Zeitgeist -Top 25 Acts Of 2012 – Part 2 – PINS.

PINS:

PINS have been getting a fair bit of blog love this year, and  after catching them live at Liverpool Sound City we discovered it was entirely justified. Noisy shoegazy buzz saw guitars, great hook laden melodies and  imperious melancholic vocals, had us conjuring up images of  Siouxsie fronting the Shirelles. A kind of slightly Goth girl group garage band with style and substance.

But don’t take our word for it click the player to hear what The VPME’s resident cyborg Arnold, has to say about PINS (below)
