The Von Pip Christmas Podcast 2021

Blimey. It’s that time of the year when I provide a kind of national elf service and assemble the finest Christmas Podcast the world has ever known.

I’ve actually been doing this for 10 years now, selecting the finest new festive tunes each year to ensure it’s not just Noddy Holder and his bell-bottomed chums and bellowing down my earhole every Christmas.

This year’s been another good year for new Xmas tunes plus there are always ones we’ve missed in previous years. So if you’d like to hear Wolf Alice take on an Olde Carol, a fantastic Anti-Tory Xmas Song, or a new seasonal tune from St Etienne, Caroline Polacheck “Christmas-ify” (is that even a word ? It is now!)  a former single or originals for 2021 from beach Bunny and Billy Nommates and much more then have a listen on Mixcloud below. 

If that’s not good enough for you I even recite a Christmas poem FFS.   I used to describe these as “alternative Christmas podcasts”  but what does that even mean these days?  Perhaps “Modern Christmas  Tunes” fits better.

These days when I get sent a track billed as something like a “hardcore punk Chritsmas alternative version of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” I often find myself reaching for some Nora Jones to cleanse my ears.
