BBC6 Music – Blog Zeitgeist -Top 25 Acts Of 2012 – Part 3 Wet-Mouth

WET MOUTH.

Yes we know we’ve banged on about this band a lot recently, but when something sounds this good the world MUST BE TOLD ! 😉 Proving that the old adage of ‘ It’s Not Where You’re From, It’s Where You’re At “ is possibly the most sensible thing ever to escape the lips of Stone Roses front man Ian Brown, Wet Mouth smash the Liverpool band stereotype. Maybe that’s because they hail from different parts of the globe, but they are very much from the  Kim Gordon/ Sonic Youth school of thrilling fuzzed up, off kilter, shoegazey alt rock, influenced by the likes of Lush, PJ Harvey and of course Patti Smith (as all great female fronted bands should be.) They fuse layers of distorted but beautiful noise with great melody to produce a heady mix of alternative grunge pop. We also mentioned them as one to watch in our Guardian feature earlier this week.

But for  perhaps the definitive view on Wet Mouth,  let’s see what our Cyborg in residence, Arnold, makes of them – click the player below to hear his wise words 😉
