Boy Harsher is the duo of Jae Matthews and producer Augustus Muller and they have just released a new video, taken from their latest album ‘The Runner (Original Soundtrack), from their short horror flick which is streaming on Shudder. They have also announced new rescheduled UK and European tour dates.
“Autonomy” is a propulsive hypnotic new-wave anthem which also features fellow Western Massachusetts based-artist Cooper B. Handy who has been releasing music as Lucy for the best part of a decade. The self-directed video weaves in footage of Boy Harsher and dancers performing with clips of Cooper from the band’s accompanying horror film The Runner. It has an air of early New Order back in the days prior to Barney discovering “E’s” and Balearic beats .
“’Autonomy’ is a product of pandemic isolation,” says Muller. “I was feeling lost, lonely, and loveless. ‘Autonomy’ was my escape during a period where I truly felt stuck.” Cooper adds: “The songwriting process was very easy and breezy – it came together kind of magically.
