Drahla : Lip Sync

Last year, out of the ether after almost four years of radio silence Leeds-formed art rock collective Drahla returned with new material in the shape of “Under The Glass.” Today with news of EU tour dates they release the jagged, mesmerising “Lip  Sync.”

It’s undoubtedly imbued with all the attributes that have made Drahla such an electrifying proposition. Angular distorted guitars, dark propulsive percussion and Luciel Brown’s almost deadpan delivery allied to a modernist lyrical bent embracing repetition, fragmentation and dark imagery all ensure the musical journey is always a compelling one.

The “Lip Synch” video was filmed, edited and directed by the band’s own Luciel Brown and Rob Riggs and inspired by the American mixed-media artist Bruce Nauman’s 1969 visual piece of the same name, the band had the following to say about their new single:

“Lip Sync is an autobiographical account of self-deflection. It explores the idea of syncing to social norms, conversation and expressions to converse without being fully present – taking on a converged guise to fit different interactions.”

The band will begin their EU dates on the 14th of February in Rotterdam.
