Wolf Alice – Yuk Foo

Wolf Alice come back swinging, with their punkiest, noisiest, dirtiest most feral moment yet and it’s immense. It’s two years since their critically acclaimed debut ‘My Love is Cool’ and new single ‘Yuck Foo’ is the first track to come from their forthcoming second album ‘Visions Of A Life’

When asked by Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac what the band had to say about the track singer Ellie Rowsell simply laughed and said “erm… Sorry!” They explained that ‘Yuk Foo’ was the one they wanted to release first, as a statement of intent and one that makes an instant impact but isn’t necessarily reflective of the album as a whole. “ We wanted to make it open to interpretation so that anyone who was frustrated at something could have it as their anthem.”

However, she went on to reveal the writing of it was informed by experience by “being sick and fed up of certain expectations… for me, a lot of it is about being a young woman. Even the shit, everyday wolf-whistle thing. As I get older, I feel like ‘Why have I always put up with that?’ When I sing that kind of song, it’s everything that I want to do when that happens.”

‘Visions Of A Life’ which was written partly on the road and then fleshed out at home in London and was finally recorded in L.A. It arrives on 29th September via Dirty Hit. Tracklist and tour dates below.
