Track Of The Day – Lusts – ‘Sometimes’

Who are Lusts ? Well in terms of the vocals there’s a hint of the young Ian McCullochs in the delivery, whilst comparisons to a rawer version of early Raveonettes or the reverb/ feedback loving bands of Creation Records in its infancy would not be too wide of the mark. As seems to be the way these days, there’s precious little in the way of information about who Lusts actually are, the ‘official picture’ above isn’t exactly enlightening.

What we do know is they are brothers from Leicester who whilst being in the thrall of bands such as The Bunnymen, MBV and Beach Fossils take their influences and stamp their own identity on their music. Even if we don’t quite know what that identity is just yet 😉 .  There’s no doubting the quality of their first tune ‘Sometimes’ which is an effervescent strutting spirited slice of indie/new wave guitar thrash, replete with subtle synth flourishes and a regret tinged lovelorn vocal full of yearning.
