Atlanta’s Mattiel, return with another uplifting slice of rock n’ soul in the shape of their superb new single “Lighthouse.” The powerhouse duo of Mattiel Brown and Jonah Swilley, have always crafted songs that sound like lost classics whilst sounding utterly contemporary.“Lighthouse” is as soaring, uplifting and as dazzling as ever showcasing what supreme songwriters they are. So good, in fact, that they will surely pass Damon Albarn’s highbrow traditionalist electric cool-aid acid songwriting test?
Regarding the track, Mattiel commented it represents “A safe refuge in a storm or a place to rest before you have to go back out into the waves again.” Whilst adding referring to the video (below) she adds “We hope Lighthouse is a positive, uplifting song for anyone who hears it. If you’re working toward something and it feels like an uphill battle, that can be a sign that you’re headed in the right direction. And there’s always someone or something to help guide you through it.
Mattiel’s third album, Georgia Gothic, is due out March 18th, 2022 on Heavenly Recordings.
