Track Of The Day – Pisces – ‘Winter Horse’

Beautiful, talented mystical but really, that’s quite enough about us!  Today’s track of the day arrives via the fabulous Sarah Negahdari; a person who it seems is positively brimming with ideas and creativity.  She fronts the life affirming LA trio The Happy Hollows, (whose album ‘Amethyst’ was in our top 2 albums of 2013) she spent much of last year touring as guest bassist for The Silver Sun Picks, is undoubtedly a songwriter of great depth and talent, a guitar shredder extraordinaire and somehow manages to find the time for a solo side project called Pisces.

She’d previously told us this musical venture is “a more feminine, lo-fi acoustic side project “ and it’s been described as  “pyschfolk”  however, on the evidence of  her latest single ‘Winter Horse’  there’s a distinct shoegazy vibe replete with dreamy yearning celestial vocals not dissimilar to early Lush.  A layer of guitar shimmer plus an insane driving bass line Peter Hook would be proud of combine to demonstrate Ms Negahdari, is indeed a unique talent who can do no wrong in our eyes.

‘Winter Horse’ was created by Sarah with the help of Joel Morales (Dios/ Babies On Acid) and David Newton (Former Mighty Lemon Drops guitarist turned producer).  And, the good news is there will be more Pisces songs to follow as 2014 unfolds –  Hurrah!
