Ones To Watch 2018 – No.6 – Bang Bang Romeo

(Adopts unctuous DJ voice- ) “Continuing our Ones To Watch 2018in with a bullet at No.6, it’s Sheffield’s Bang Bang Romeo”

Yup Liverpool Sound City may have had its critics this year, namely down to the choice of location, which let’s face it was a stop gap, but as ever their selection of emerging talent was excellent. And Bang Bang Romeo‘s performance on the small but perfectly curated Pirate Studio stage was one of those stop you in your tracks moments.

Singer Anastasia Walker’s huge, dramatic powerhouse blues-drenched vocals are genuinely jaw-dropping and we’ve previously described them  “timeless, untamed and utterly authentic – at times reminiscent of Nancy Sinatra meets Amy Winehouse meets Grace Slick on a Tarantino soundtrack.”  Their Pirate Studios Live version  ‘Johannesburg’  has already had over 81,000 views and whilst they probably won’t sell quite that many tickets at some of their gigs in 2018, they certainly look set for an exciting year.
