Being a fan of festive music as I’ve documented on many occasions, most recently here Lexie Carroll was still 17 years old when she released a beauty last year in the shape of a wistful “ Christmas Day”. To be quite honest that was the first time I’d listened to her, what with being old and not really active on Tik Tok, where she has amassed quite the following.
Her latest single “Violet”, is a gleaming indie pop nugget that demonstrates a musical and lyrical eloquence that belies her years. Poetic, and thoughtful whilst melodically uplifting it seems Carroll ain’t just for Christmas, she’s signed to 7476 (Lizze Ried, Tiny Umberalls) and will have a new EP out later in the year.
