A quick break from our ones to watch list 2018 to check in on our top tip from 2015. Chløë Black whose seductive fatalistic sense of doomed grandeur left us enraptured and slightly wobbly, has just released a new video for her latest track ‘Waterbed’. She’s now based in L.A. although promises she will return to the UK regularly to connect with the good people and refuel with gin.
She certainly hasn’t been wasting her time in the “City of Angels” and after recent collaborations with photographer and filmmaker Nadia Lee Cohen, as well as writing and performing she’s now directed, styled, make-upped, edited etc her latest video. As you might expect the results are compelling, disturbing and scratch at the surface of vintage Hollywood glamour to reveal something rather dark and twisted beneath. She tells us the video for ‘Waterbed “was meant to be a homage to Videodrome that’s a sort of comment on social media-induced narcissism and the exploitation of women in media.’
